Manufacturing: Conveyors make light work of tyre movement [Easibelt]

Coveya were delighted to support Merityre Specialists, a tyre sales & fitting company that was looking for a conveyor for their Kingston, London depot.

Their original system for lifting tyres had become too labour intensive and so they not only needed a conveyor solution that would enable them to handle large deliveries of new tyres, lifting them up three stories to their stock area but also to bring tyres down from their stock room to ground level where they would then be dispatched or fitted. The conveyor had to be installed and operated in a very tight environment so a free site survey and CAD drawings were required.

Coveya supplied a 450mm wide Easibelt conveyor 9.9m in length following a full site assessment. This conveyor was fitted with a Griptop belt to lift the tyres at an angle of 49 degrees, a variable speed drive, braked motor, and emergency start stops at 3-floor levels.

The conveyor was fully installed and commissioned in one day, keeping the centres downtime to an absolute minimum, supporting an articulated delivery of tyres the following day.

Merityre was extremely pleased with the end solution and the conveyor has so far sped up operations on-site for their main London service centre.
